Exercises are performed through circularity of movement providing variable, but carefully controlled resistance. Each exercise is synchronized with a corresponding breathing pattern creating a gentle or vigorous cardiovascular stimulation, depending on the intensity and speed of execution. The GYROTONIC® technique works on many different levels and can encompass a simple remedial or an advanced challenging repertoire.

Who will benefit from GYROTONIC® exercises?

GYROTONIC® exercises are used worldwide amongst dancers, gymnasts and sports people and is particularly suitable for a variety of rehabilitation purposes. It is also invaluable for general conditioning amongst people of all walks of life from children to senior citizens.

What is the difference between Pilates and the GYROTONIC® methodology?

Pilates focuses on a diagnostic approach to restructuring the musculoskeletal system and concentrates on correcting postural and muscular imbalances specific to the needs of individual clients. GYROTONIC® exercises are designed to work the body and its systems as a whole. Using the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®, rotational multi-directional movements are performed to increase flexibility and strength, culminating in an organic rejuvenation and increased vitality and vigour.

Both methods are used at Anna Tetlow Pilates to provide a complementary and integrated approach, the balance varies according the individual need of the client.
